The surroundings
Directly from the town there are numerous well-maintained paths, a recommended place for trekking lovers, for nature lovers and for history lovers. A few kilometers away, in fact, it is possible to visit the Cascate dei Capelli of Venere, the WWF Oasis of Morigerati, the Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula.
The sea, reachable from the green Tortorella / Mare in less than fifteen minutes and confirmed as Blue Flag also for 2019, offers sandy coasts, gravel, cliffs, bays that can only be visited from the sea. The easily reachable places are Villammare, Sapri, Policastro, Scario, Palinuro, Marina di Camerota and, towards the Lucanian side, Maratea, a beautiful center that hosts numerous events and is protected by an imposing statue of Christ. The coast is full of underwater caves that can be reached by boats to rent or with boats for groups.
At 15 km. from Tortorella and 900 mt. above sea level, the MUN, Museum of Man and Nature, was built using an abandoned quarry from which an amphitheater with excellent acoustics and venue for musical and theatrical performances was also made in July and August.
Numerous feasts and festivals are organized locally and in the surrounding area during the summer.
